Axe de recherche
Stéphane Potvin est chercheur en neurophysiologie. Ses travaux de recherche portent principalement sur le rôle néfaste que jouent le cannabis ou l’alcool sur les structures du cerveau chez les schizophrènes, en se focalisant notamment sur le système de récompense du cerveau.
Les intérêts de recherche du Pr Potvin incluent aussi les mécanismes de modulation de la composante affective de la douleur et du traitement des émotions chez les schizophrènes abusant du cannabis, en utilisant la technique d’imagerie par résonance magnétique fonctionnelle. En plus d'être professeur agrégé sous octroi, il coordonne les activités de l'axe Neurobiologie et santé mentale du Centre de recherche de l'Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal.
